While writing daily I have become more intentional about listening to myself in my day-to-day life. Finding little bits of things I enjoy more than I thought, in order to work towards piecing them together in unique ways.
It helps me during this 28-day challenge. But I am also, ultimately, on a “career path scavenger hunt”.
I was watching a deep sea documentary the other night. I grew up watching these nature documentaries and this thought led me to a funny story.
My mom was an outside mom. No screens. My sister and I went outside and played with sticks, rocks, and mud. Built things, played in the woods.
But alternatively, if we were to sit down and watch TV she had us watch documentaries. Namely nature documentaries like Blue Planet with David Attenborough.
You know how the saying goes, “Spongebob is annoying, let’s watch bears kill small animals instead.”
I don’t often watch them anymore but when I do I feel a sense of nostalgia.
And reflecting upon this the other night led me to the realization that I have always had a fascination with water.
Lakes, rivers, ocean, what’s down there?
Maybe a little underwhelming–this is not an announcement that I’m going into marine biology.
Only another thing that I’m adding to my record of things that I like more than I thought. In order to analyze and discover similar themes over time. My main point here being,
Keep a record of innate interests as they arise.
