I started reading a book last night that I’ve had on my list for a long time: Tuedays with Morrie by Mitch Albom–about the death of Morrie Schwartz, a college professor diagnosed with a terminal illness.
This book details his diagnosis journey and the lessons he shares in his time left. After reading 1/3 of this story, I wanted to share my biggest takeaway with you. Beginning with a quote from Morrie:
“So many people walk around with a meaningless life. They seem half-asleep, even when they’re busy doing things they think are important. This is because they’re chasing the wrong things. The way you get meaning in your life is to devote yourself to your community around you, and devote yourself to creating something that gives you purpose and meaning.”
– Morrie Schwartz
After reading that quote Morrie also talks about culture. Simply put: the one we live in does not make people feel good about themselves.
Some things never change.
Happiness comes from being brave enough to find and live our personal cultures. I say brave, because living in ways that fulfill us wholeheartedly can be polarizing.
How many people that you know are living out loud as their truest self?
