As a continuation of my public notebook: I started a new daily blogging challenge to begin solidifying the learning that I’m doing while training jiu jitsu.

Notes: Saturday July 20th

Chain 1

Kimura from guard

Sweep your opponents hands off of your belt while driving your ankles to the sky. Once their hands hit the mat, rock up across the shoulder you’re attacking and gather a Kimura grip on wrist. Angle yourself slightly to the side and crank towards the back of the neck.

Kimura fail to bump sweep

If the Kimura fails, use the same rocking over the shoulder motion to instead scoop their arm at the base of the shoulder. Post your other arm and bump sweep them over.

Bump sweep fail to triangle

If they post and stop the bump sweep, take the leg opposite of your posted hand and swim it up as high as possible on their back. Put your weight on them. Scoop your other leg up to the side of the neck, fall back to close the triangle.

Chain 2

Guillotine from guard

Rocking up your upper body the same as a bump sweep. Swim the arm that was directed over their shoulder around their neck. Now scooting out your body slightly to connect both hands for a guillotine.

They stand up, butterfly sweep

If your opponent stands up, maintain guillotine grip. Swim one leg into a butterfly hook, while using the other to circle around the outside of their leg (the direction you want to take them) and chop by the ankle. The inside hook lifts up, the outside chops in. When they fall, go to side control or guard.

Chain 3

6-point arm bar

To triangle

To omoplata

To bicep slicer
