As a continuation of my public notebook: I started a new daily blogging challenge to begin solidifying the learning that I’m doing while training jiu jitsu.
Notes: Friday July 26th
Triangle from guard
From guard, break your opponents posture. Swim your arm outside and around their bicep. Locking them close to you, remembering to look at your “wristwatch”. Hold their head to break their posture more. C-cup their other arm and push away from you. Lock in spider with your knee, then foot, to bicep. Like a pit-stop. Kick your spider guard foot up and bend it across. Lock your triangle and readjust. Sub.
Gift-wrap triangle
Baiting an arm lock from mount, your opponent turns to their side. Sit heavy on them, with your chest to their shoulder, knee flat behind their back, and foot sitting up next to their hip. Go for a gift wrap, locking their arm behind their head. Walk your foot from their hip up to the top of their shoulder. Fall back and swing your other leg up for the triangle. Readjust. Arm bar, wrist lock, or squeeze for the sub.
Bodylock triangle
Baiting an arm lock from mount, your opponent turns to their side. Sit heavy on them, with your chest to their shoulder, knee flat behind their back, and foot sitting up next to their hip. Go for a gift wrap, collecting and holding their arm at the elbow wrapped around their neck. Swim your other arm under their leg, bringing their leg upwards and connecting your hands. Locking in their arm and leg. Shimmy (walk-up) the foot posted by their hip, under their leg and your locked arms, to their shoulder. Fall back while grabbing your ankle. Throw your foot up for the triangle and lock it. Once trapped, you can lock their knee, arm bar, wrist lock, or squeeze for the sub.
