As a continuation of my public notebook: I started a new daily blogging challenge to begin solidifying the learning that I’m doing while training jiu jitsu.

Maintaining Control

Holding control by locking their far arm in–looping your arm around theirs and holding it tight to your head, grabbing your own collar. Crossing your foot over their closest arm, pinning it to the ground and following it loosely.

Alberto, Setup

In side control, pushing against their arm to create a downwards response. Move yourself upwards and behind their head. Bringing up and pinning the closest arm and wrapping your hand behind their head and into their far armpit.

This opens them up to:

  • Arm bar
  • Chokes

Loop choke

Papercutter

4 finger choke

Baseball bat choke

Gi chokes: around, behind
