As a continuation of my public notebook: I started a new daily blogging challenge to begin solidifying the learning that I’m doing while training jiu jitsu.

Notes: Monday August 5th

6p Class

In the 6p class we worked on a continuation of guard maintenance. While drilling breaking down posture and gaining control, we were shown grip breaks.

Belt Grip Break

If they have a grip on your belt, grab their sleeve and swim your opposite hand under their wrist towards their palm. Chop both directions.

Lapel Grip Break

Grab the outside meat of their hand, turn inwards, swim the energy around and flatten them on their side.

7:30p Class

Kimura Flow One

Grab a kimura, unable to finish it take them over for a bump sweep–maintaining control of their arm. If they post themselves out, bump your hips upwards and swim for the triangle.

Kimura Flow Two

Grab a kimura, unable to finish it, reach around for a guillotine choke. Keeping their arm wrapped under control. Extend backwards and get butterfly hooks in, sweep them over.
