Jiu Jitsu Training. Sunday August 4th. Basic Leglock Defense.

As a continuation of my public notebook: I started a new daily blogging challenge to begin solidifying the learning that I’m doing while training jiu jitsu.

Notes: Sunday August 4th

As I am at risk of leg locks during competition, and I haven’t done any of them… ever, it was time to get some basic instruction on not only how to do them but how to defend.

We did catching drills, and sat back down to a straight ankle lock.

Defense 1

Hip switch and swim your foot out while posting on their hip.

Defense 2

If they manage to fall back, grab their collars and ride their energy up with them. Ending up with your foot flat to the ground.

Defense 3

Put on a boot. Get your foot extended through their armpit.

Defense 4

Hold on to their head or collar and don’t allow them to fall backwards to finish it.
