As a continuation of my public notebook: I started a new daily blogging challenge to begin solidifying the learning that I’m doing while training jiu jitsu.

Notes: Thursday August 8th

Wrestling Private Lesson

I did my first wrestling private on Thursday. We worked on more principle-based understandings.

  • Weight distribution
  • Breaking posture
  • Push & pull points
  • Driving through
  • Circling diagonally

I did two takedowns.

Neck Crunch

Hand-fight upwards to a neck grip and an armpit grip. Cinch the head grip inwards, pulling the neck down while pushing your shoulder in. Drive your head into their head at the same time. While maintaining control, shuffle (diagonally, circularly) backwards. Whipping down.

Lever-Crunch

Hand-fight upwards to a neck grip and an armpit grip. Cinch the head grip inwards, pulling the neck down while pushing your shoulder in. Drive your head into their head at the same time. While maintaining control, connect your arms together behind the back. One around the head, one under the controlled arm. Lift the arm up while driving them with your head. Circle downwards.

6p Class

From Butterfly:

Baseball Bat

Grab baseball bat grips. When you feel them beginning to pass guard, spin. Or, swing one foot to the opposite hip and spin.

Extend Sweep

Grab underhook/arms and extend their body out. Sweep with hooks.

Pummeling

Over, under, alternating both
