As a continuation of my public notebook: I started a new daily blogging challenge to begin solidifying the learning that I’m doing while training jiu jitsu.
Notes: Wednesday August 7th
6p Class
A continuation of guard, grip breaks, and positional drilling.
Purposefully off centering yourself.
Reverse Guard Pass
Purposefully off center your energy by putting one knee in the middle and one knee to the side. Keeping a strong base. Kick the outside knee around. Turning their stomach to the ground.
Pressure Pass
Grab an arm and pin it flat (downwards) on the ground. Stand up, putting your head in the pinned arm’s armpit. Pushing your energy into them. Reach under their body and pass off that arm to the other side behind their back. While passing take your head out and put it on their shoulder instead, so you have the proper room. Grip tight.
Slide the knee (of the arm that is twisted under the back) downwards. The guard will open. From here, do a backstep. Or hiplock.
7:30p Class
Arm Bar, Triangle, Omoplata Flow
Redirect their hand over their body and begin the 6-point arm bar. If they swim their arm out, circle around in the opposite direction for a triangle. If they wrap their arm around the outside of your leg to keep their neck open, go to an omoplata.
If they stack you…
Sweep them and go to for an arm bar or to mount.
Defending triangle…
You also have the option to throw over for an arm bar.
