As a continuation of my public notebook: I started a new daily blogging challenge to begin solidifying the learning that I’m doing while training jiu jitsu.

6p Class

We’re working guard. At 6p we did:

Extension Sweep

Gripping both cuffs, place your feet to their hips and extend outwards. Kick either direction to take them over.

Adding Spider Guard

Extending them out, now walking one foot up to the inside of their shoulder, up to their elbow. Extend them upwards and outwards. You can sweep using spider guard or…

We then did 3x 3min rounds of rolling.

7:30p Class

De la riva guard

Both feet on hips, grabbing the cuffs. Circle-kick one leg out and around. Placing your foot interlocked now behind their knee. Pull in their opposite arm to break posture.

Scoop the bottom of their heel and lift. Turning their whole leg and body orientation. Spin them like a wheel, lifting up with your foot and hand–while pulling down with your opposite hand on their cuff.
