Jiu Jitsu Training. Wednesday August 28th. Lapel Sweep & Knee on Belly.

As a continuation of my public notebook: I started a new daily blogging challenge to begin solidifying the learning that I’m doing while training jiu jitsu.

Notes: Wednesday August 28th

6p Class:

At our 6p class we continued to work on guard & guard retention. Removing our opponents lapel from their belt, shifting it over their head, and breaking their posture downwards.

Lapel “Flower” Sweep

Within this, we worked on a flower sweep variation. Instead of holding/pinching the over directed arm down by squeezing their lat, using the lapel grip around their head to hold them in place and keep their arm from posting outwards. Flower sweep accordingly, biting down with the leg as you turn.

7:30p Class

At our 7:30p class we did knee on belly. This is something I don’t do myself because it’s specifically to inflict pain. During this class I focused on being a good partner for the person I was working with, because they were requesting to learn escapes.
