As a continuation of my public notebook: I started a new daily blogging challenge to begin solidifying the learning that I’m doing while training jiu jitsu.

Notes: Thursday December 6th

Review

  • Blocking choke. Drop to base and turtle neck. Put one foot backwards to maintain base. Swing head in direction hips are facing fast downwards and under arms. Hit to the head with back hand.
  • Hip toss blocking choke. C clamp under their elbows. Take a step in, with the same arm throw up an elbow to the face. Scoop up the other arm in clinch. Move in for the hip toss with feet inside theirs.
  • Wrist break blocking choke. Drop to base while C-clamping one of their wrists top hand closer to body, bottom hand underneath and behind. Clamp their arm to the top of your body. 3 steps. One, same-side outside foot close to theirs. Two, back foot through to the outside of their body pivot. Three, first foot steps back to face them. Grab meat of hand and break.
  • Wall blocking choke. Base down. Search hands for finger. Isolate one, turn your grip thumb down. Drop in base while pulling finger down to break finger.
  • Wall blocking punch. Shrug neck and drop to base with hands inside. When they lift their arm to throw the punch, palm strike their remaining arm off. Shifting your body to follow through towards the wall, and then returning with an elbow strike.
  • Review of clinch/striking series from guard to standing.

Americana Defense

  • Gluing elbow to mat by pushing with opposite foot and engaging lat. When ready, Y-Escape and push them off of you in the direction they’re attacking the Americana. When they come back to recenter, trap and roll them the other way into their guard.
  • They have a locked out Americana. Swim your arm over and S-Grip. Shoot your body south while lifting your arm up and over your head and circle back into your stomach. Trap and roll if they hang on, wrist lock.
